James "Jim" G. Sax, 85, Moorhead, MN, died Sunday, October 31, 2010.
James George Sax was born February 6, 1925, to Jacob and Loretta (Rooney) Sax in Brooklyn, NY, where he grew up and received his education. Jim was drafted into the Army and upon his honorable discharge, he returned to Brooklyn where he worked for Northwest Airlines.
It was there he met his future wife, Velarie Skalsky. They were married October 17, 1947, in Ada, MN, and they made their home in Moorhead. Jim worked for Reinhardt's and then Electric Service and Supply. Jim eventually became a postal carrier with the Moorhead Post Office, retiring after 24 years of service.
Jim enjoyed fishing, camping and woodworking. He was a skilled mechanic and could fix just about anything.
He is survived by his wife, Velarie, Moorhead; three children, Sandra (Tom) Payne, Dilworth, MN, Edward (Kim) Sax, Montevideo, MN, and Nancy (Don) Harrington, Northfield, MN; a sister, June Sabrino, New York; five grandchildren, Scott (Becky) Payne, Dustin (Courtney) Payne, Stacey (Jason) Schwartz, Patrick (Amy) Harrington, and Adam (fiancee, Jenna) Harrington; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Edward; and a sister, Loretta Widmann.
