James W. Erickson

James W. Erickson, 75, Moorhead, MN, died Sunday, October 3, 2021, in Ecumen Evergreens in Moorhead.
James was born July 28, 1946, in Fargo, ND, to William "Skip" and Prudence (Yager) Erickson. James was raised and educated in Fargo, graduating from Fargo Central High School with the class of 1964.
On December 23, 1974, James was united in marriage to Margaret (Coulter) Neil. They made their home in Moorhead and raised four children, David, Jennifer, James, and Benjamin.
Over the years, James worked at several local radio and television stations, including KXJB TV and KVRR TV, where he also was the Madd Programmer on the Madd Frank Presents television show; KVOX AM, WDAY AM, and most recently, KFGO AM, where he hosted the Solid Gold Saturday Morning Show.
James also played drums for several local bands over 30 years, most of the years playing with his dear friend Bob Becker and the "Poor Boys."
James was very involved in Boy Scouts for many years and was a recipient of the Silver Beaver Award. He was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Moorhead and enjoyed volunteering in many different areas with his fellow parishioners.
James will be remembered and missed by his wife of 47 years, Margaret, and their children, David Neil of Moorhead, James Erickson of Menomonie, WI, Benjamin Erickson of Fargo, and Jennifer (Neil) Dunkin of Ada, MN; three grandchildren, Kaleigh Lee (Matt Klevgaard) of Felton, MN, Katherine Dunkin of Ada and Jimmy Dunkin of Ada; three great-grandchildren, Tyler and Mariah Lee, and Kristopher Klevgaard; one brother, Joseph Erickson of Raleigh, NC; and his life long best friend, Bob (Mary Jo) Becker of Moorhead, MN.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation for James will be Friday, October 8, 2021, in St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church from 5pm-7pm, followed by a 7pm Prayer Service. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, October 9, 2021, at 11am in St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery.
