James R. “Jim” Wenner passed away Saturday, March 23, 2024, at St. Catherine North, Long Term Care Facility in Fargo, ND.
Jim was born October 16, 1930, in Wadena, MN, to Roman and Cecilia (Lange) Wenner. Jim grew up in Perham, MN, and graduated from Perham High School in 1948. He served in the US Navy from 1950 to 1954, and was proud to be a Korean War Veteran.
In 1955, Jim married Isabelle Rose Wyborny and they made their home in Moorhead, MN. The couple celebrated 66 years of marriage. In 1956, Jim graduated from Moorhead State Teachers College with an Associates Degree. They had two children, Daniel and Mary. He worked as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service in Moorhead for 29 years.
Jim enjoyed fishing, camping, vegetable gardening, playing volleyball with his family, and dancing to polkas and waltzes. He loved to tell jokes and tease his children and grandchildren. He was especially proud of his grandchildren and their accomplishments.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Isabelle; his father, mother, and brother, Bill (Joanne) Wenner.
Jim is survived by his brother, Ted (Doris) Wenner, Perham; children, Daniel (Karen) Wenner, Detroit Lakes, MN; and Mary (Don) Kramvik, Moorhead; grandchildren, James “Louie” (Brianna) Kramvik, Adam (Mary) Kramvik, Kelsey (Brian) Taylor, and Jennifer Wenner (Jesse Nessel); and 6 great-grandchildren.
Jim’s funeral will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Moorhead, at 11 AM, on Saturday, April 27, 2024. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral. Burial will be at Fargo National Cemetery, Harwood, ND, at a later date.
