Janice "Boots" Anderson

Janice "Boots" Anderson died Sunday, March 18, 2018, at the age of 87, in her home in Dilworth, MN, surrounded by her loved ones and under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Janice Lobitz was born in Sabin, MN, on August 30, 1930, to Louis and Marie (Buerke) Lobitz. She attended school in Moorhead, MN. She was active at an early age with the American Legion, participating in Drill Team.

She married William Anderson in October 1950. They had two girls, Sherry and Belinda. William passed away in 1953. On April 13, 1958, she married Carl G. Anderson in Sabin. They made their home in Dilworth, and later in Fargo, ND, eventually returning to Dilworth in 2008. They were married for 55 years. Carl passed away in 2013.

Through the years, Boots was very active in the Fargo American Legion. She was chairwoman of the Easter Basket Committee for many years, among other countless service projects throughout the years. She enjoyed Sammy's Pizza, playing bingo every Friday night, attending American Legion Conventions every year and trips to Branson, MO, and Medora, ND. Boots also greatly enjoyed her trips to California to see her family.

She was a faithful follower of the Red River Valley Veterans Concert Band. She was also a "faithful regular" at Moorhead Herbergers. Above all, her family was her life. She was a proud mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved showing off her family and regularly attending their activities.

She is survived by her daughters, Sherry (Clif) Scheer and Belinda (Mike) Benson; five grandchildren, Kristi (Mary Moser) Hovland, Candy (Damon) Herzog, Tanya (Garrett) Gruwell, Nikki (Travis) Hersrud, and Derek (Jen) Hovland; and elven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her faithful cockapoo companion of two years, "Bubbles."

Boots was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Carl and William; her sisters, Dorothy Krabbenhoft, Elizabeth Leonard, Esther Schmidt, Lois Snyder, and Margaret Paasch; and her brothers, Fred Lobitz and baby George Lobitz; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Thursday, March 22, 2018, from 5 - 7 PM, with a prayer service at 7 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.

Her funeral will be Friday, March 23, 2018, at 2 PM, in Dilworth Lutheran Church, Dilworth.

Burial will be held at a later date in Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead.
