Janith "Jan" Ness, 79, Moorhead, MN, left this world and entered the gates of heaven, her eternal home on March 21, 2021. Jan lived trusting her Lord & Savior and claiming his promises through her 12-year cancer journey.

Janith Dorothy Cook was born on May 14, 1941, at St. Ansgar Hospital in Moorhead to Robert & Irene (Klug) Cook, the 4th of 8 children. She attended a one-room country school through the 7th grade, graduating from Glyndon High School in 1958. She briefly attended Moorhead State Teachers College and then finished her college at Interstate Business College. She worked at GMAC until her marriage to James "Jim" Ness. The couple were married October 20, 1962 at Trinity Lutheran Church near Sabin, MN, the same church where Jan was baptized and confirmed and was blessed to have many mentors in her faith walk.

Jan & Jim raised their three children on their family farm southwest of Comstock, MN, where they farmed for 40 years. Besides her husband, Jim, Jan is survived by their three children, Brian (Mike Weiss); Nancy (Paul Ernst) and their children Andrew (Carmen) and Konrad; David (Sara) and their children Daniel, Samuel and Rachel; seven siblings, Jim (Bev) Cook, Cherryll (Ken) Hoffman, Jerry (Ione) Cook, Kathryn (Jim) Miller, Lowell (Joanne) Cook, Dwight (Shirley) Cook, and Doris (Mark) Mancell; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and nephew, Troy Cook.

Jan was so grateful for her family and friends for carrying her in prayer all these years. Bible study has been very important to her and God's promises in His Word have sustained her. One of her favorite passages was 2 Corinthians 12:9a, "My grace is sufficient for you." She desires that everyone reading her obituary would ask themselves where they will spend eternity. Her heart's desire is that you would spend eternity with her in heaven.

Visitation for Jan will be held Wednesday, March 24, 2021, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel from 5pm-7pm with a 7pm Prayer Service. Funeral Service for Jan will be held Thursday, March 25, 2021 at 1PM in Triumph Lutheran Brethren Church, Moorhead.
