Jean Delores Moen was born July 19, 1926, in Moorhead, MN, the daughter of Carl and Mathilda (Kjorven) Moen. The family lived in a number of areas during the depression years, including Fargo, ND, Fort Ransom, ND, Audubon, MN, and Seattle, WA.
Her parents owned and operated a restaurant in Audubon, where Jean graduated from high school. She received a teaching degree from Moorhead (MN) State Teachers College and taught in Crookston, MN, for one year. She then taught the remainder of her career in the Moorhead Public School system.
Jean was united in marriage to Leland "Wally" Anderson, on August 2, 1950, in Fargo. They lived in Dilworth, MN, for one year until they moved to Sabin, MN. Wally preceded Jean in death on July 9, 1996, and Jean continued to reside in Sabin. Jean died Wednesday, January 4, 2006, in Innovis Health, Fargo, at seventy-nine years of age.
Jean and Wally shared a love for dancing. Their forty-six year love affair included dancing at many clubs, including the Galaxy in Barnesville and the Eagles in Fargo. Their unconditional love for one another was evident in how they lived their lives each and every day. Jean continued her role as caregiver to Wally for over four years prior to his death. Their lives changed from that point on but the vows they made to one another did not. Despite the challenges, their marriage continued to be one of love and care for each another and a tremendous example to their family.
Jean and her grandchildren seemed inseparable. She was able to spend a great deal of time with them when their father's call to military service arose. During that time, she passed on the values she knew and lived out in her daily life.
Jean is lovingly survived by her four children, Carin (Les) Stair, Tucson, AZ, Catherine Anderson, St. Paul, MN, John (Mary) Anderson, St. Louis Park, MN, and David (Gloria) Anderson, Pelican Rapids, MN; and two grandchildren, Nathan and Amanda Stair.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hospice of the Red River Valley (1701 - 38th St. SW, Fargo, ND, 58103) or the Breast Cancer Foundation, in Jean's memory.
Visitation for Jean will be Friday, January 6, 2006, from 4 - 7 PM, with a prayer service at 7 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead. Her funeral will be Saturday, January 7, 2006, at 1 PM, in Comstock Lutheran Church, Comstock, MN. Burial will be in R
