Jean Katherine Standfield was born June 23, 1922, in Arthur, ND, to Fred and Josie (Landon) Standfield. Jean attended school in Arthur and graduated from Amenia (ND) High School in 1941. While living in Arthur, Jean worked at the Wagner Café, Ross Grocery Store, and the Arthur Post Office.
Jean was united in marriage to Raymond J. Steinbach on June 23, 1943, at Page, ND. They moved to Felton, MN, in 1947, where they farmed. Jean also worked at the Felton Post Office for a number of years. In 1956, they moved from the farm into Felton where she was active in the Felton Community Club, American Legion Auxiliary, Band and Music Mothers, and the Gloria Dei Ladies Aid. Jean and Ray also drove school bus for many years. In 1974, they purchased the Felton Café, which they operated for over one year. They continued farming until their retirement in 1990. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Ray preceded Jean in death on August 13, 2007, and Jean continued to make her home in Felton. Jean died Monday, August 11, 2008, at Viking Manor in Ulen, MN.
Jean is lovingly survived by her son, Jerry Steinbach, Felton; her daughter, Connie (Keith) Yeager, Coos Bay, OR; four grandchildren, Stacey (Jim) Anderson, Christy (Jon) Ramsey, Corey Steinbach, and Russell Yeager; and four great-grandchildren, Michael and Alyssa Anderson, and McKenna and Addison Ramsey; two brothers, Bill Standfield, Moorhead, MN, and Bud (June) Standfield, Dilworth, MN; and a sister, Bernie Knutson, Moorhead.
In addition to her husband, Jean was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Steinbach; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Steinbach; four sisters, Harriet Standfield, Florence Lako, Dorothy Hill, Mae Ward and her parents.
Visitation will be Thursday, August 14, 2008, from 5 - 7 PM, with a prayer service at 7 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
Her funeral will be Friday, August 15, 2008, at 2 PM, in Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Felton.
Burial will follow in Felton Cemetery.
