Jeanette Ann Halaas, the daughter of Torris and Hildur (Roos) Halaas, was born September 17, 1933, in Carrington, ND. As a young girl she moved with her family to Lignite, ND, where she grew up and graduated from high school in 1951. She attended Minot (ND) State Teacher's College for two years, where she received her teaching certificate. Jeanette taught in a rural school in Burke County, ND, for one year.
On May 29, 1954, Jeanette was united in marriage to William Haraldson, at Lignite, where they lived until 1964, when they moved to Dilworth, MN. Jeanette worked as a paraprofessional for the Dilworth School and in the Moorhead, MN, school system. William died on July 31, 1983.
On November 21, 1992, Jeanette married Ted I. Johnson, in Dilworth. She retired from the Moorhead Public School System in 1993, and in 1994, they moved from Dilworth to Moorhead. Ted died on November 4, 1998.
After Ted's death, Jeanette continued to live in Moorhead. In February of 2005, she became a resident of the Good Samaritan Center in Pelican Rapids, MN, where she died on Saturday, May 26, 2007, at the age of 73.
Jeanette was very active in her church, and was active in programs to benefit special needs students. She enjoyed baking and cooking for her family, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were very special to her.
In addition to her two husbands and her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 grandchildren.
