Jeanette Hansen Miller Wilcox passed away Monday, November 30, 2009, surrounded by her loving family, in Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead, MN, after a short illness. She was eighty-nine years old.
Jeanette was born on October 9, 1920, to Charles and Olga Hansen in Mekinock, ND. She grew up in Fertile, MN, and graduated from Fertile High School.
Jeanette was united in marriage to Cyrus T. Miller of Lincoln, NE, on October 11, 1942. They had one son, David Miller. Cy was killed in action on October 23, 1944, while serving with the 45th Infantry Division in France.
On January 1, 1947, Jeanette married Clifford G. Wilcox in Red Lake Falls, MN, where they were in business until 1955. They then moved to Moorhead and Cliff established his sporting goods business, first in Fargo and then in Moorhead. They had two children, Nancy and Charles.
Jeanette worked at Concordia Food Services for a number of years. She had a strong religious faith and was active in the Presbyterian Church of Moorhead. She was a member of Altrusa International of Moorhead and participated in other volunteer organizations. Jeanette loved music and sang in her church choirs for about seventy years. She especially enjoyed entertaining family and friends at their lake cabin at Maple Lake, as well as at their homes in Red Lake Falls and Moorhead.
Cliff passed away in 1983, and Jeanette continued to reside in her home for fifty-four years until shortly before her death.
Jeanette had a friendly, warm and giving spirit that was appreciated by acquaintances new and old. She lit up the room with her smile. She will be truly missed by many people.
She was dedicated to her family and cherished her children and grandchildre
Jeanette is survived by her sons, David Miller and Charles (Becky) Wilcox; a daughter, Nancy Wilcox; grandchildren, Kirsten (Jim) Haag, Kyle Wilcox, Carolyn Wilcox and David Wilcox; a great-granddaughter, Isabelle Haag, and beloved nieces and nephews. In
Memorials preferred to First Presbyterian Church, Moorhead, in memory of Jeanette.
Visitation: Friday from 6 - 8 PM in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead with the Funeral on Saturday, December 5, 2009, at 10 AM at First Presbyterian Church, Moorhead.
Burial: Saturday at 2 PM at Oak Grove Cemetery, Red Lake Falls.
