Joan R. Nelson, age 73, of Georgetown, MN, died Tuesday, December 14, 2004, at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota.
Joan Hendrix Rosel was born July 8, 1931, at Brainerd, Minnesota. She grew up and received her education in Brainerd, where she graduated from high school in the late 1940s.
Joan attended nursing school in Rochester, MN, where she graduated in 1952, and became a registered nurse. Joan returned to Brainerd to work.
On August 21, 1953, Joan was united in marriage to Lester Nelson, in Brainerd. They made their home in Moorhead, MN. In 1964, they moved to Georgetown, MN, where they had lived since.
Joan worked as a registered nurse at the Fargo Clinic and did private duty nursing. She later was a night supervisor at Americana Healthcare Center in Fargo. She retired in about 1972.
Joan is survived by her husband, Lester Nelson, Georgetown; a son, Dan Nelson, Spokane, WA; a daughter, Becky (Lyle) Kjonaas, Detroit Lakes, MN; a brother, Richard (Lianne) Rosel, St. Paul, MN; and three grandchildren.
