Joe Himle

February 27, 1930 — March 19, 2013

Joe Himle was born on February 27, 1930, the seventh and youngest son of Nils and Anna Himle in Wolford, ND. He grew up on the family farm and attended school in York, ND.

Joe was united in marriage to Stella Henrikson on August 5, 1956, in Leeds, ND. They made their home in Leeds and he worked on the family farm for the first few years of marriage. In 1962, they moved to Devils Lake, ND, where he worked with his brothers at Himle Plumbing and Excavating.

Joe and Stella moved to Fargo, ND, in 1966. He began working at Robert Gibb & Sons. While at Gibb, he worked as a plumber in the jobs of service man, commercial excavating and construction. He retired in April 1992. After retirement, Joe enjoyed buying and repairing older homes.

Joe always enjoyed the time spent with his family and grandchildren, especially camping and fishing with them. He liked traveling and had a special trip to Norway and Sweden to see distant relatives. He enjoyed playing cards at the El Zagal Lodge with the guys.

While living in Devils Lake, he was a member of the Eagles Club. Joe was also an active member of the El Zagal Shrine and Masonic Lodge in Fargo. He volunteered at El Zagal for the parades, Shrine Circus, and other activities.

Joe passed away peacefully on March 19, 2013, at Home Sweet Home Elder Care, rural Horace, ND, at eighty-three years of age.

Joe is survived by his wife, Stella, Moorhead, MN; daughters, Judy (Bryan) Dalzell, Bismarck, ND, Janice (Randy) Rudisel, Fargo, and Joann (Kevin) Anderson, Redwood Falls, MN; son, Jeff (Rhonda) Himle, Fargo; grandchildren, Catherine, Emily, Paul and Ian Dalzell, Katrina and Brandon Rudisel, and Nicholas and Cody Anderson.

Also surviving are his siblings, Harold Himle, Hazel Johnson, and Thelma (Carroll) Larson; sisters-in-law, Irene Himle and DeLorz Himle; and many nieces and nephews and their families.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Lawrence and Arnold; sister, Sadie; nephew, Douglas Himle; and niece, Karen Anderson.

Gathering of Friends will be Friday, March 22, 2013, from 5 - 7 PM, with a Masonic Prayer Service at 7 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead. The Memorial Service will be Saturday, March 23, 2013, at 11 AM, in Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Moorhead.
