John Edward Pearson was born June 7, 1933, to Elmer and Minnie (Severson) Pearson, in Pelican Rapids, MN, and was raised at the Stony Bar Resort in Pelican Rapids. John graduated from Pelican Rapids High School in 1951, and entered the US Army in June of 1953. He served a tour in France and was discharged in May of 1955. He then attended and graduated from Wahpeton (ND) State School of Science.
John married Avis Martinson, June 29, 1958, in Pelican Rapids, and he did auto body work in Morris, MN. They moved to Pelican Rapids where he worked for Knutson Heating. They later moved to Sabin, MN, and John worked at various businesses, including Bruce Heating, Robert Gibb and Son, Laney's, and Barr Heating.
In 1977, the family moved to Moorhead where they have since made their home. John worked at the Moorhead highrise doing various maintenance jobs, as well as the Professional Building in Fargo, ND, until he had to retire due to health concerns.
John was a devoted husband and loving family man to his sons, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren. He enjoyed telling a good tale and a joke or two and teasing his grandchildren as well. John played on the Pelican Rapids High School baseball team, like to golf, fish, hunt as well as play on local softball teams. John had a great love of music that he passed on to his sons, playing guitar and enjoying dancing. John was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Pelican Rapids, Trinity Lutheran Church in Sabin, and most recently The Lutheran Church of Christ the King, Moorhead. John was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union and was a life member of the VFW.
John died Tuesday, September 12, 2006, in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, at seventy-three years of age.
John is lovingly survived by his wife, Avis, Moorhead; four sons, Mark (Debbie), Moorhead, Gary, Lake Havasu, AZ, David (Ilene), Moorhead, and Scott (Kim), Lakeville, MN; seven grandchildren, Sarah (Matt) Meza, Elizabeth, Daniel, Hannah, Chandler, Abbie,

Visitation for John will be Friday, September 15, 2006, from 5 - 7 PM, with a prayer service at 7 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead. His funeral will be Saturday, September 16, 2006, at 10 AM, in Trinity Lutheran Church, Pelican Rapids. Burial will
