John F. Watson, 77, Moorhead, MN, died Sunday, March 8, 2009, in MeritCare Medical Center, Fargo, ND.
John Frederick Watson was born to Dr. Sidney and Elizabeth (Garnhart) Watson in Worthington, MN. He graduated from high school in Worthington and attended junior college for a short period of time.

On March 16, 1950, John married Kay Zieske and they made their home in Granite Falls, MN. They moved to St. Cloud, MN, where John worked in sales for a coffee company. He was then hired to work for Gold Bond Stamps and they moved to Omaha, NE. His job eventually transferred them to Fargo and they made their home in Moorhead. John worked as a salesman for Gold Bond for fourteen years, eight years selling insurance and then part-time for a candy company in Fargo. John struggled bravely with Parkinson's disease for eleven years.

John enjoyed playing cards, including Poker, Bridge and Pinochle. He and Kay were avid sailors and spent years sailing on Leech Lake. John also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Kay, Moorhead; three children, Jeff Watson, Minneapolis, MN, Jody (Bill) Reitz, Broomfield, CO, and Tacy (Dan) Loera, Bennett, CO; a sister, Nancy (Tom) Fletcher, Minneapolis; two grandchildren, Leah Ross-Kaza and Rachel Heitzig; and four great-grandchildren, Alie, Jonathan, Elijah, and Lili. He was preceded in death by his parents.


Memorial Service: Next Saturday, March 21, 2009, at 2 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
