John Fagerholt

John Jay Daniel Fagerholt, 33, of Fargo, ND, passed away April 16, 2018, in Moorhead, MN.

John was a very kind and gentle spirit. He was born in Grand Forks, ND, November 19, 1984, the son of Jay and Betty Jo Fagerholt. He grew up in rural Hoople, ND, attending elementary and junior high in Valley School System. He then graduated from Oak Grove Lutheran High School in 2003.

Following high school, he graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN, in 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. He furthered his education by graduating from the University of North Dakota School of Law in 2013.

John was a nature lover, an avid hunter, competitive trap shooter and enjoyed following bird migration. He composed and published an article "The Waterfowler's Dilemma: Busting the Roost" in 2016, which demonstrated his fondness and devotion to the sport.

John was wise beyond his years and curious about life! Family and friends were important to him. He loved to discuss and research many topics.

Hunting and flying with his dad were favorite pastimes. John loved working on the farm and
spent many hours with his Dad, Uncle Mark and others. He was also a member of First Lutheran Church in Hoople.


The joy of his life was his mother, Betty Jo. She was always there for him with unconditional love.

John was preceded in death by his father, Jay; grandparents, Art and Elvina Fagerholt and Fred and Bernice Bergman.

He is survived by his mother Betty Jo Fagerholt, Fargo; uncle, Mark (Linda) Fagerholt, Hoople; aunts, Ann (Arlen) Jackson, Hoople, and Carol (Douglas) Lund, Aneta, ND; 13 cousins, Thea (Mike) Killeen, Coon Rapids, MN, Bryan (Michelle) Fagerholt, and Barry (Chrissy) Fagerholt, both Highlands Ranch, CO, Mark (Brigid) Lund, Victoria, MN, Jeff Lund, Las Vegas, NV, Mary Jo Lund, Fargo, Julie (John) Stearns, West Fargo, ND, Bob (Brandi) Jackson, Hoople, Cheryl (David) Birkeland, Cresbard, SD, Barb Johnson, Little Canada, MN, Kevin Romuld, Bismarck, ND, Fred Romuld (Pam Neppel), Grand Forks; and numerous second cousins.

Visitation for John will be from 3-4 PM followed by the celebration of life at 4 PM, Saturday, April 21, 2018, at Bethel Evangelical Free Church, in Fargo.
