John Leslie Kelly, child of God and lifelong musician, died from complications following surgery at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, ND on December 10, 2008, at fifty-six years of age.
John was born on April 30, 1952, in Oakland, CA, to Joyce (Sundeen) Kelly and Jerry Kelly. As a child, he lived in Lakota and Grand Forks, ND and Minneapolis, Coon Rapids and Frazee, MN. John graduated from Frazee High School in 1970, and attended NDSU. John married Susan Cordova on May 15, 1984 in Reno, NV. Their daughter, Jenna Paloma Cordova-Kelly resides in Los Angeles, CA.
John's life was music. He performed in bands in Fargo, Minneapolis and Phoenix, AZ and later worked as a sound, lighting and recording engineer, through his company Design 9.
John returned to Fargo in 2006 after living for twenty-five years in Tempe, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his daughter, former wife, and sisters Joni (Patrick) Bennett, Edina, MN, Jill (Tom) Boock, Detroit Lakes, MN, Joy Kelly (D.A. 'Sandy' Campbell), Santa Barbara, CA, Janis Kelly (James 'Gus' Hunt), Rancho Cordova, CA; their families and many Sundeen relatives.
John's family wishes to extend their deep appreciation to the physicians and staff at MeritCare Hospital and MeritCare Clinic for their excellent, compassionate care.
A celebration of John's life will be Sunday, December 14, 2008, at 6 PM, in Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead.
