John Lund

We are saddened to announce that after a long hard-fought battle with colon cancer, we lost John on Thursday, May 24, 2012.
John Otto Lund was born February 22, 1948, in Hitterdal, MN, and baptized at Salem Lutheran Church in Hitterdal. His family relocated to Minneapolis, MN, when he was 7. He attended church and was confirmed at Central Lutheran Church, Minneapolis. He graduated from Minneapolis Vocational High School in 1966.
John was married in 1968, and has three children from his first marriage. He spent a few years in different occupations before signing on with Prudential Insurance, where he held several different positions during his 15-year career with them. While at Prudential, he attended North Hennepin Community College, taking classes in Business Administration.
John volunteered for over a decade with the Boy Scouts of America. First, as a Webelos leader, and then as assistant scoutmaster for his son's scout troop. He was also on the Boy Scouts district training staff, where he earned the distinguished Wood Badge Award, for leadership.
John met Judi, through his sister, Ruth, and after a long courtship, he transferred from Minneapolis to the Prudential office in Fargo, ND, so that he could marry Judi. They were married May 2, 1992. John earned a two-year degree in Computer Programming from Northwest Technical College in 1997. John joined the Clarica Insurance Company in 1999, and retired in 2010, for health reasons
John loved to go out dancing with his wife and their friends. He also found that, in his late fifties, he liked to run for exercise and eventually completed three half-marathons, during his fight with cancer. He was proudest of being able to run in a ha
John's favorite hobby was woodworking. He really enjoyed making Christmas gifts for his co-workers and friends. John will best be remembered for his sarcastic wit and his love of family and friends.
John is survived by his wife, Judyth Kruger, Moorhead, MN; children, Larry, Thomas and Cynthia Lund, and Larry (Stacy) Kruger; sisters, Faye Krueger, Jean Lund, Jane Krueger, Judy Guyton, and Joan Rojas; granddaughters, Shanna (Samuel) Anderson, Monica Kr

Memorial Service: Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at 11 AM, Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead.
