John M. "Scooter" Sullivan Sr.
February 23, 1958 — February 2, 2008
John Sullivan, 49, West Fargo, ND passed away unexpectedly Saturday, February 2, 2008, at Innovis Health after a brief battle with pneumonia and being recently diagnosed with cancer.
John was born February 23, 1958, in Moorhead, MN, the only son of John L. and Vivienne (Marsh) Sullivan. While growing up in Moorhead, he attended Moorhead High School and Moorhead Technical College. He began working with his father at Sullivan's Auto Wrecking at a young age. John took off some time as a wrecker driver and mechanic to serve his country by joining the United States Army. After his service in the military he worked as a truck mechanic for many years, his final place of employment being J-Mar Enterprises. John was also shop manager and limo driver for All Occasions Limousine, Harwood, ND.
On July 4, 2002, John married Lisa Marie Peralta in Harwood where they brought their families together. He was a very devoted and loving husband. John and Lisa had a wonderful loving relationship that spread to their whole family. John's family was the most important part of his life and he was most content when friends and family were gathered at his home to visit, play cards, and just spend time together. John had an amazing spirit and a joy for life that touched everyone who knew him. He was a very hard worker and was proud to say that everything he did, he did for his family.
John had a passion for cooking and loved spending time preparing everything from traditional holiday meals to lavish barbeque feasts for family and friends. John loved his country and was very proud to fly the American flag in his yard. In May of 2005, John was presented with a Compassionate Citizen award from the PETA organization for his successful rescue of five kittens from a discarded clothes dryer.
John is survived by his wife, Lisa; seven children, Marshal Sullivan (Lori), John Marshall Sullivan, Jr., and ViAnnah Sullivan (Brandyn), all of Fargo, Brittany Davila, Danielle Davila, Anthony Peralta, and Caitlyn Sullivan, all of West Fargo; six grandchildren, Shelby, Aydan, Brody, MacKenna, Brittany, and Calab; four sisters, Juli (Dan) Neumann, Orange Park, FL, Verlee Sullivan, Moorhead, Roxanne (Mike Larson) Dahl, Dilworth, MN, and Penny (Harvey) Moos, Moorhead; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
He is preceded in death by his parents; infant children, Joshton Manning and Jacques Andre Sullivan; and maternal grandparents, Clarence and Edyth Marsh.
The Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4 - 6 PM at Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead, and on Thursday from 9 - 11 AM at Living Waters Lutheran Church, Fargo. A Prayer Service will take place Wednesday at 4 in Korsmo Funeral Chapel.
The Funeral will be on Thursday at 11 AM in Living Waters Lutheran Church with Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo.
