Johnny L. Stasch, 86, formerly of Georgetown, MN, died Saturday, November 27, 2010, in the MN Veterans Home, Fergus Falls, MN.
Johnny Leonard Stasch was born September 27, 1924, to Bernard and Anna Stasch on the family farm in Argusville, ND. He attended country school and then Interstate Business College for bookkeeping.
Johnny entered the Army from 1942 to 1945, serving in Germany during WWII. From 1949 to 1954, he served in the Marines, and then was a reservist in the Air Force until 1966, working as a mechanic. Johnny later worked for Cass County in road maintenance and then for the Moorhead Parks Department until his retirement.
Johnny loved to play his guitar and harmonica with his band "Johnny and the Westerners" at local dances. He enjoyed elk hunting with his nephew in Colorado and fishing at his cabin on Strawberry Lake. Johnny also enjoyed traveling from coast to coast with his companion and friend, Myrtle, as well as sitting for hours with her in the courtyard garden at the Veteran's Home.
Johnny was a member of the Fargo American Legion, a life member of the Dilworth VFW Post #1223, the American Rifle Association and the North American Hunting Club.
He is survived by his sister-in-law, Maria Stasch; nephews and nieces, Edward (Shelby) Hohnadel, Bernard (Lynn) Stasch, MaryAnn (Jim) Kritzberger, Rose (Curtis) Holmes, Mickey (Paul) Cose, and Barbara (Wayne) Reault; his life long companion and friend, My
Visitation: Thursday, 5 - 7 PM with Prayer Service at 7 PM, Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
Funeral: Friday, December 3, 2010, 11 AM, St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Georgetown.
Burial: Wild Rose Cemetery, Georgetown.
