Jordis M. Smith

Jordis Marilyn Douglas, the daughter of John and Minnie (Blilie) Douglas, was born in Comstock, MN, on February 23, 1928. As a young girl, she moved with her family to Moorhead, MN, where she grew up, received her education and graduated from high school.


She was married to Richard "Hank" Smith in Moorhead, where they made their home. In 1950, they moved to California. In 1970, they returned to this area, and lived in Dilworth, MN, and later in Moorhead. Jordis worked at the JC Penney Store in Fargo, ND, a grocery store in Dilworth, and for Welcome Wagon, in the F-M area.


Jordis was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and The Catholic Daughters. She enjoyed visiting the elderly and hospitalized persons on behalf of her church. She was a very giving person. Even when she was ill, she was concerned for others.


Jordis died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004, at Innovis Health in Fargo, ND, at the age of 76. She was preceded in death by her husband, who died June 3, 2002; two sons, Doug and Tom; her parents; a sister; and four brothers.


Jordis is survived by two sons, Keith (Margaret) Smith, Maplewood, MN, and James (Ruth) Smith, Hawley, MN; a brother, Arlo (Penny) Douglas, Dilworth; a very special friend, Faye Huber, Roseville, MN; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.


Visitation: One hour prior to the funeral, at the church.

St. Joseph Catholic Church,
Moorhead, Minnesota.


Burial: St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Moorhead, MN.
