Joseph "Joe" E. Barbee, 53, Moorhead, MN, died Monday, December 1, 2008, in MeritCare Medical Center, Fargo, ND, surrounded by his family.
Joe Edward Barbee was born December 26, 1954, in DeRidder, LA, and raised by his mother Ella Barbee. As a young boy, Joe loved to play baseball with his brothers.
On August 21, 1976, Joe married Nancy Messerschmidt in Dilworth, MN, and they made their home in Glyndon, MN. He worked for his brother for a period of time and then began working as a farm laborer/truck driver for Sunde Farms, Felton, MN.
Joe loved the outdoors and spending time at the lake fishing. He also belonged to a Thursday night pool league. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by four children, Heather (Chris) Jenkins, Fargo, Krista Barbee, Glyndon, Taylor Groeneveld, Fargo, and Steven (Stacy) Green, Rosepine, LA; four grandchildren, Carter, Hailyn, Brooklyn, and Asa; two sisters, Ruby (Joe) Ewing and Diane Honea, DeRidder, LA; and four brothers, Jimmy (Sue) Barbee, Plaquemine, LA, Jerry (Roxanne) Barbee, Moorhead, Larry (Becky) Barbee, Baker, MN, and Gary (Millie) Barbee, DeRidder.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ella; and three sisters, Cora Tyson, Dora Barbee, and Wilma Barbee.
By his death he gave life and hope to others through the donation of his bones and tissue.
