Joseph P. Nemzek

Joseph Patrick Nemzek was born in Moorhead, MN, on March 8, 1931, the son of Jack and Nora (Peterson) Nemzek. He was raised in Moorhead and graduated from Moorhead Senior High School in 1950.
Joe worked for Burlington Northern Pacific until the Minnesota National Guard was activated in 1951. He served in the Korean War until he was wounded and became a disabled vet. Joe was awarded the Purple Heart. Following his discharge in 1953, Joe went to school in Mexico City, Mexico, for Archeology.
He moved to California where he met and married the love of his life, Donna Mae Schwarz, on August 11, 1957. They returned to Moorhead where he opened and operated a shoe repair, army surplus store, and raised three children.
His beloved wife Donna preceded him in death in 1978. Joe moved to Little McDonald Lake, Perham MN, in 1997, where he spent his days attending auctions, buying and selling his treasures, and fishing. He moved back to Moorhead in 2007.
Joseph P. Nemzek Sr. passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2011, at Bethany on University, Fargo, ND, at eighty years of age.
He is survived by his daughters, Nancy (Jimmy) Inada, Phoenix, AZ, and Julie Nemzek, Fargo; his son, Joseph (Trish) Nemzek Jr., Moorhead; three grandchildren, Sandra, Shannon, and Geneva; two stepgrandchildren, Kaylen and Jonathan; and four great-grandc
He is also survived by his sisters, Margaret (Merle) Bekkerus, Bismarck, ND, Annie Carlson, Audubon, MN, and Jacqueline Nelson, Moorhead; and his brother Ted, Bloomington, MN.

Visitation for Joe will be Monday, March 14, 2011, from 5 - 7 PM, with a prayer service at 7 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
The Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at 11 AM, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Moorhead.
Burial will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Moorhead.
