Joseph F. Snyder, 72, of Moorhead, MN, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at his residence in Moorhead.
Joseph Frank Snyder was born February 14, 1952, to James and Leota Snyder in Moorhead, MN. He lived in Moorhead most of his life. He attended school in Moorhead and received his GED. Joe enlisted with the United States Army serving three years from August 2, 1972, until his honorable discharge on July 25, 1975, earning the rank of Specialist 4th Class.
Joe worked for Branick Industries as an assembler and retired after 34 years.
Joe was a great friend to many and enjoyed visiting with others or simply being that listening ear. His family and friends meant the world to him. He enjoyed staying busy at his lake place tending to his massive gardens, and fruit trees. Always putting others first, Joe took great pride in his accomplishments. After each harvest, you could always count on Joe to deliver you fresh fruit and vegetables. He had a strong passion for fishing and spent countless hours on the water with his brothers, his friends and extended family. He liked having them around at the lake and joked about being “Joe’s guide service” when someone would catch more fish than him. He was an excellent cook and would often make meals for his family, and if they weren’t there to eat, he’d load up the food and bring it over to them. He was a man that had a dry sense of humor and really enjoyed setting people up for a prank, but also found humor in being caught at his own game.
Joe was a man of many talents. He could repair or construct anything mechanical, electrical and helped many over the years. “If it was broke, Joe could fix it.”
He is survived by his brothers, James A. Snyder, Dilworth, MN, David E (Nancy) Snyder Detroit Lakes, Terry M. Snyder, Moorhead, and Steve P. Snyder (Patti Otness) Fargo; sisters, Dianne S. (Henry) Nowak, Moorhead, Brenda N. Nelson, Moorhead, Stephanie L. Snyder, Moorhead and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James A. and Leota E. Snyder; his brothers, Darrel W. Snyder and Jeffrey L. Snyder; and two nephews, Adam J. Snyder and Eric A. Nelson.
A Celebration of Life will be held February 14, 2025, at 10AM in Korsmo Funeral and Cremation Service of Moorhead. Family and friends will gather one hour prior. Interment of ashes will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Sabin, MN.
