Joyce J. Wilson

October 6, 1931 — January 14, 2021

Joyce Wilson, 89, passed away on January 14, 2021, in Linden Tree Circle at Eventide, Moorhead, MN.
Joyce Jean Bradley was born October 6, 1931, in Paola, KS, to Rufus and Mamie (Arrington) Bradley. She was raised in Paola but spent many summers in Park Rapids, MN. In 1949, Joyce graduated from Paola High School. After high school she attended Monticello College in Godfrey, IL, before moving to Park Rapids.
December 30, 1950, Joyce was united in marriage to Harold Deane Wilson. Together they had four children, Catherine Jean, Bradley Deane, Kenneth Charles, and Christine Diane, who passed away at birth. Joyce and Deane raised their children in Park Rapids. They also lived in Alabama for a year and Little Falls, MN, for six years before moving to Moorhead in 1997.
She was strong in her faith as a Christian. She was baptized and confirmed at the Presbyterian Church in Paola. She attended Riverside Methodist in Park Rapids, Grace United and Calvary at Village Green in Moorhead.
Joyce was employed in the medical field at various hospitals and clinics. She served as an officer in many different organizations, including St. Joseph's Hospital auxiliary, Park Rapids White Birch Artists and Fish Hook Lake Association. After moving to Moorhead, she served as a volunteer at MeritCare (now Sanford) Hospital in the Roger Maris Cancer Center Pharmacy and the Emergency Center. She was a member and served on the MeritCare Hospital Auxiliary Board and Sanford Medical Center Partners Board.
She liked meeting people and being able to care for others in her employment and volunteer work. Between her career and her volunteer work, she still managed to find time for hobbies. She enjoyed doing needle work, drawing and other artwork, working on family history, and reading. Her biggest joy in life was spending time with her grandchildren and family.
Joyce is survived by her children, Catherine (Philip) Williams, Bradley (Julie DeLaHunt) and Kenneth; grandchildren, Shannon (Patrick) Williams Maher, Megan Williams, and Adam Wilson; and her great-grandchildren, Emerson and Brooks Maher. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Deane (2009); her parents; infant daughter, Christine; brothers, Clayton and LeRoy; and sisters-in-law, Clara and Marjorie.
Burial will be at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery, Little Falls, MN.
Memorials are preferred to Roger Maris Cancer Center, Eventide Foundation, and Hospice of the Red River Valley.
