Joyce Marion Fossen was born December 6, 1926, to J. Oscar and Mary (Gorthe) Fossen in Hallock, MN. She grew up in Fingal, ND, where she graduated from high school. Joyce then attended the State Teacher's College in Valley City, ND, and she taught in a rural school near Sheldon, ND.
On September 26, 1948, Joyce married Gaylan Larson in Fingal. They moved to Forest Grove, OR, where Gaylan attended optometry school. In 1954, they moved to Long Prairie, MN, and in 1958 they moved to Moorhead, MN, where Joyce was a homemaker and lovingly raised their five children. On March 7, 1994, Gaylan died and Joyce continued to make her home in Moorhead.
Joyce bravely fought and survived three types of cancer, but died from complications on September 19, 2006, in the Villa Maria, Fargo, ND, at the age of seventy-nine.
Joyce was a game player and had a passion for Bridge. She enjoyed golfing, antiques, dancing and crocheting. Her positive attitude and spirit for life was infectious, but her laughter will forever be held in the hearts of her family and many friends. Joyce's greatest joys were her children and grandchildren.
Joyce is survived by four sons, Gary (Jo), Fargo, Rick (Barbara Zimmerman), Bismarck, ND, Ron, Placentia, CA, and Kim (Sandy), Moorhead; eight grandchildren, Samantha Larson, Rachelle (Patrick) Pimento, Jennifer (John Traverse) Larson, Matthew (Amy) Larson, Benjamin Larson, Corey (Andrea) Larson, Christopher Larson, and Alyssa Larson; three great-grandchildren, Shayla Rae, Makala, and Ashlynn, and one great-grandchild due in April; one sister, Lorraine Anderson, Enderlin, ND; and two brothers, Russell (Liz) Fossen, Richfield, MN, and Cecil Fossen, Fingal.
