Juan "Johnnie" Rodriguez

Juan "Johnnie" M. Rodriguez, 76, Moorhead, MN, died Thursday, December 21, 2006, in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND.

Johnnie Mateo Rodriguez was born August 29, 1930, in Crystal City, TX, to Mateo and Consuelo (Lomas) Rodriguez. He grew up in Crystal City and worked as farm laborer there and for Henry Schroeder in the Sabin, MN, area. In 1948, Johnnie enlisted in the Army where he served for four years. Upon his discharge he returned to Carrizo Springs.

On August 30, 1953, Johnnie married Gloria Salazar in Moorhead, MN. They lived in Carrizo Springs, TX, until moving to Sabin in April of 1969 and Johnnie continued to work for Henry Schroeder. In 1975, they moved to Moorhead where Johnnie attended the Vo. Tech. School. He then began working for American Crystal Sugar Company until his retirement.

Johnnie is survived by his wife, Gloria, Moorhead; four sons, Johnnie Jr. (Darcy), Fargo, Gerald (Julie), Moorhead, Robert, Minneapolis, MN, and Alonzo, Moorhead; two daughters, Kristella Gonzales, Crystal City, and Melinda Rodriguez, Halstad, MN; four brothers, Manuel, Barnesville, MN, Pedro, Ordona, TX , Robert, Tahoka, TX, and Armando, Austin, TX; two sisters, Beatrice, Hereford, TX, and Armandina, Lubbock, TX; fifteen grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Blanca; two sons, Jesse and Joseph; two sisters, and four brothers.


Visitation: Tuesday from 5 - 7 PM, Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.


Prayer Service: Tuesday at 7 PM, Korsmo Funeral Chapel.


Funeral Service: Wednesday, December 27, 2006, at 11 AM, St. Joseph Catholic Church, Moorhead.
