Judith E. Johnson

December 27, 1940 — March 16, 2023

Dilworth, MN

Judith E. Johnson, 82, of Dilworth, MN, passed away Thursday, March 16, 2023, in Eventide on Eighth, Moorhead, MN.

Judith Elaine Eide was born December 27, 1940, the daughter of Kermit and Arna (Leiseth) Eide in Moorhead.  She was raised in Moorhead and graduated from Moorhead High School in 1958.  After high school, she attended and graduated from Crookston Nursing School as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

Judy met her first love, David Pechacek and they were united in marriage on November 19, 1960. They were happily married for 10 years and together they had five children. They built a life in the FM area and settled in Dilworth. David passed away March 24, 1971.

Judy was blessed with a second love, Lance Johnson. They were united in marriage on March 10, 1972.  Lance adopted her five children, and they had two more children. They spent many years helping in the community, building friendships, and growing together in their faith.

Judy had many wonderful memories at their lake cottage, drinking coffee on the deck and watching “I Love Lucy” reruns. She always had her famous tuna salad, kool-aid punch, chocolate chip cookies and was always willing to make s’mores! And let’s not forget about 3 o’clock ice cream! She hosted many family gatherings and thoroughly enjoyed quality time with family and friends. She was an active member of Dilworth Lutheran Church, singing in the choir and attending Bible study. She also loved quilting and sewing blankets, happily donating many of them over the years.

Judy always loved a great adventure! Anytime she had an opportunity to travel her excitement spoke volumes, from Texas, Florida, North Dakota, Nevada, Hawaii, Idaho to Germany, France, Amsterdam, Belgium, Czechoslovakia, Jamaica and England-so many wonderful memories!

Judy was so proud of her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids! She had stories to tell about them to anyone that was willing to listen. She was very caring and thoughtful, helping those less fortunate, working as a hospice nurse and visiting people without families at nursing homes. She always had a smile and bright eyes for babies and people she loved. She trusted God with everything in her life.

She is survived by her husband, Lance; children, Michael (Kelly) Johnson, Fargo, ND, Gregg (Joelle) Pechacek, Mandan, ND, Suzanne (Tobyjoe) McCasland, Coeur d’Alene, ID, Joseph (Gloria) Pechacek, Jacksonville, FL, and Lance Johnson II, Dilworth, MN; seventeen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; brother, David (Carrie) Eide, Portland, OR; sister, Deborah (Wayne) Hall, Georgetown, TX; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David; daughters, Nichole Johnson, and Dr. Marilou Pechacek Sollom; brother, Edward Eide; and sisters, Barbara Reppen and Jonelle Kummer, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Her Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, March 23, 2023, in Dilworth Lutheran Church, Dilworth, with a Visitation one hour prior to her service.   Burial will take place in Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead.
