Judith Rae Ball

Judy R. Ball, 76, rural Moorhead, MN, died Saturday, April 5, 2014, in Essentia Health, Fargo, ND.

Judy Rae Kennedy, the daughter of Fred and Evelyn (Whalen) Kennedy, was born in Grand Forks, ND, on November 17, 1937. As a young girl, the family moved to Fargo, where Judy grew up and graduated from high school in 1955.

On October 19, 1957, Judy married Roger Clyde Ball, in Moorhead. They made their home on the family farm, south of Moorhead. Judy was a hardworking farm wife and mother. She was also active in the Sabin, MN, community, where she served in the PTA and taught Sunday school in her church. She was an avid bowler and loved a good game of darts. A trip to the casino with family or friends was another highlight of her life.

Judy is survived by a daughter, Carrie Ball, Moorhead; sons, Randy (Kendra) Ball, Fargo, Robbie Ball, Moorhead, and Roger (Terry) Ball, Fargo; sisters, Arlene (Ken) Highness, Dilworth, MN, and Louise (Lloyd) Emerson, Moorhead; brothers, Fred Kennedy, Moorhead, Marvin (Rose) Kennedy, Moorhead, and Michael (Kathy) Kennedy, Hettinger, ND; 12 grandchildren, Adam, Joel and Josh (Mayra) Strand, Trista (Eric) Berg, Michaela Perry, Chesney (Mark) Grunwald, Chet Perry, Devon Ball, Ciera Ball, Kayla and Jaime Olson, and Casey Ball; and two great-grandchildren, Juliette Strand and James Grunwald. Judy was preceded in death by her husband, Roger, who died November 1, 2012; her parents; and a sister-in-law, Kathryn Kennedy.

Visitation for Judy is Wednesday, from 5 PM until 7 PM, with a prayer service at 7 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead. Her funeral mass will be Thursday, April 10, 2014, at 11 AM in St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, Sabin. She will be buried at Moorhead Memorial Gardens.
