Julia Evelin Strum, age 94, from Fargo, ND, died Thursday, November 1, 2007, at her home in Fargo, after a prolonged illness.
Julia Wetmore was born May 28, 1913, in Bismarck, ND, the daughter of Bert and Martha (Peterson) Wetmore. She graduated from Bismarck High School in 1929 and attended NDAC and Bismarck Business College. She worked in the county agricultural extension office in Bismarck where she met her future husband, George Strum. She married George Strum on October 23, 1942, in Bismarck. After WW II, they settled in Fargo, where they raised three children, Dr. Daniel (Leanne) Strum, Suffolk, VA, Linda (John) Gustafson, Fargo, and Jennifer (Richard) Harlow, Libby, MT. George died March 30, 1984.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Fargo, president of the Presbyterian Women's Association, on the Board of Deacons and a long time Sunday school teacher. She had many friends in Fargo in her bridge and sewing clubs. She and her husband George enjoyed traveling though out the United States visiting children and relatives.
Julia is survived by her three children, and four grandchildren, Linnea, Andrew, Eric, and Scott.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, a brother, and her husband.
Visitation: Thursday, November 8, 2007, from 5 - 7 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead, MN.
Funeral: Friday, November 9, 2007, at 2 PM, at the First Presbyterian Church in Fargo, with Rev. Mary Holtey officiating.
Interment: Saturday November 10, 2007, at 1 PM, at Fairview Cemetery, Bismarck, with Pastor John Gustafson, officiating.
