Julian A. Tollerude, 92, Moorhead, MN, died Tuesday, June 6, 2006, in Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead.
Julian Albert Tollerude was born February 18, 1914, to Hjalmer and Maria (Halvorson) Tollerud, in Norwegian Grove Township near Fergus Falls, MN. He attended country school there up until the 8th grade when he began to help on the family farm. In February of 1941, Julian enlisted in the Army and served during WWII, receiving the Bronze Star Medal. Upon his discharge in 1945, he returned to the farm.
On June 16, 1946, Julian married Burdell Grunewald in Rothsay, MN, and they made their home on a farm near Phelps Mill. They farmed there until their retirement in 1981. They moved to Fergus Falls, MN, then to Moorhead to be closer to family. In 2004, both Julian and Burdell became residents of Eventide.
Julian is survived by his wife, Burdell, Moorhead; two daughters, Diane (Dennis) Leatherbury, Moorhead, and Linda Bowen, Hillsboro, ND; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Sally Christiansen, Pelican Rapids, MN.
