Julie Rae Ortloff was born on July 25, 1952, to Ray and Grace (Sevre) Ortloff in Thief River Falls, MN. She was baptized at First Lutheran Church, which later became Redeemer Lutheran Church, where she was confirmed.
She attended Knox Elementary School and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1971. After graduation, she worked for Del's Café and United Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. Julie went on to marry David Abner, and together they had their son, Michael. Later she married Kenneth Skelton and resided in Fargo, ND. Julie held several jobs in the Fargo/Moorhead area over the years. Michael was the love of her life. She cherished and enjoyed her time spent with him.
Julie took pleasure in visiting with friends and family. She belonged to Faith Hope Love Church in Moorhead, MN, and had a very strong faith in God throughout her life. She really enjoyed helping others in her church.
Julie will always be known for her sense of humor and warm personality. She made people feel welcomed and loved. Julie also liked to watch scary movies and care for her cat "Masada."
Julie is survived by her son, Michael Abner of Fargo; her siblings, Barbara (Don) Johnson of Lawton, OK, Heidi (Monte) Casavan of Red Lake Falls, MN, Wayne Ortloff of Minneapolis, MN, Jodi (Doug) Disterhaupt of Thief River Falls, MN, and Kristi Hodgson of Brooks, MN; as well as nieces (and great-nieces) and nephews (and great-nephews).
She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Grace Ortloff; her brother, Dwight Ortloff; and brother-in-law, Sheldon Hodgson.
Julie Ortloff Skelton, 59, died on Saturday, October 15, 2011, at Sanford Health Hospital in Fargo, ND. May her memory be blessed and kept close to everyone's heart.
Services will be held for Julie at Faith Hope Love Church, on Wednesday, October 19, 2011, at 10:00 AM. Friends may call after 9:00 AM at the church on Wednesday. Inurnment services will be held for Julie on Saturday, October 22, 2011, at 1:00 PM, at Landstad Cemetery, Sanders Township, Pennington County, Minnesota.
