June M. Peterson, age 89, Moorhead, MN, died Wednesday, March 20, 2013, in Sanford Palliative Care, Fargo, ND.
June Marian Cooper, daughter of Fred and Augusta (Schielke) Cooper, was born June 21, 1923, in Jamestown, ND. She grew up and received her education in Cleveland, ND.
On November 2, 1939, June married Alex Paul, in Webster, SD. They lived in Chicago, IL, and in Windsor, ND.
June attended Dakota Business College, Fargo, and earned a certificate of merit in typewriting. She worked as a switchboard operator for the Fargo Forum from 1963 until she retired in 1987.
On June 19, 1965, June married Gordon Peterson. They made their home in Moorhead. June was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Moorhead VFW Auxiliary, and the Moose Lodge. She volunteered at Golden Living Center, Moorhead, where Gordon was a resident prior to his passing, helping with baking and other activities. She enjoyed spending time with her family and playing cards and cribbage.
June is survived by her son, James (Esther) Paul, Kindred, ND; granddaughter, Sharon Hebl; grandson, James Paul, Jr.; five great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon; her parents; an infant d
