Karen Cooper

August 10, 1943 — April 14, 2016

Karen Cooper passed away peacefully on April 14, 2016 in Moorhead, Minnesota surrounded by her family and under the care of Hospice, following a long battle with Parkinson's Disease. Karen Lee Kath, daughter of Richard and Lydia (Hasse) Kath, was born in Graceville, MN, on August 10th, 1943. She grew up on a farm near Nashua, MN, and she graduated from Campbell High School.

On April 19th, 1963, she was united in marriage to Albert Cooper of Charlesville, MN. They farmed near Charlesville for a few years before moving to Karen's home farm near Campbell-Tintah where they lived for the next 19 years. During this time, Karen helped Albert with the farming and also worked as an aide for the Campbell-Tintah school system. In 1985 she began a career as a travel agent. Over the years, she and Albert were able to take many trips together. Albert and Karen moved to Breckenridge, MN, in 1986, and in their later years lived in Moorhead, MN. They were blessed to be married for 53 years.

Albert and Karen were blessed with three sons and a daughter, Roland (Jennifer) Cooper, Alan (Cindy) Cooper, MN, Angie (Mike) Edenborg, all of Moorhead, MN, and Kory (Elissa) Cooper, of Glyndon, MN. Karen enjoyed gardening, cooking and dancing and she was especially close with her family. Her favorite job was that of Grandmother. She thoroughly enjoyed her grandchildren, and they brought much joy to her life.

Along with her husband and children, Karen is also survived by nine grandchildren; Ashley, Amanda and Matthew Cooper, Cody and Nicholas Cooper, Kylie and Dylan Edenborg, and Marissa and Wyatt Cooper, with a tenth grandchild arriving in August 2016. She is also survived by a sister, LaVonne Armstrong of Ft. Collins, CO, and an aunt, Lucy (Arlan) Skramstad of Fergus Falls, MN. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed by all.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Richard and Lydia Kath, and her brother-in-law, Gene Armstrong.

A special Thank You to Lynne and Gary Brock from Home Appeal Care and Hospice of the Red River Valley for their support and care of Karen over the past month. It is greatly appreciated.
