Karen Hogetvedt

October 22, 1944 — September 7, 2024

Moorhead, MN

Karen Hogetvedt, 79, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at Sanford Medical Center, Fargo, ND.

Karen Kading was born in Ada, MN, on October 22, 1944, to Carl and Harriet (Matson) Kading. They lived in Moorhead. That is where she went to school, where she was a cheerleader during her high school years. Her family moved to Glyndon, MN, her senior year where she graduated in 1962.

On July 9, 1965, Karen was united in marriage to the love of her life, Robert Hogetvedt, in Borup, MN. Together they built a house near Felton, MN, on a small hobby farm. Karen and Bobby raised two children there. Karen has four grandchildren that were her pride and joy. Karen would take small trips with each grandchild to give them special days. She loved her family with all her heart.

Karen enjoyed living in the country. She liked working in her yard and garden. She would pick chokecherries every year to make jelly and syrup. She enjoyed going for a ride on her 4-wheeler where she would give rides to her grandchildren and sometimes even her dogs would get to go along. In recent years she spent a lot of time with her sister, Sharon, where they would find interesting places to drive to or go shopping.

Karen was a strong and caring person. Even with her own pain she lived with, she would care for others if they needed anything. She would always put others ahead of herself.

Karen is survived by her children, Shannon Migler, Hawley, MN, and Lanny, Felton; grandchildren, Dayla (Aaron) Samuelson, Courtney (Sam) Bates, Cole Hogetvedt, and Jenna Hogetvedt; siblings, Sharon Erickson, Ken (Marie) Kading, Bruce (Cindy) Kading, and Cindy Pesola; sisters-in-law, Helen Stevenson, and Margie (Jim) Jensen; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; her parents, Carl and Harriet; nephews, Ross and Ryan Pesola; and brothers-in-law, Robert Stevenson, and Chuck Burnside.

A prayer service will be held for Karen on Friday, September 20, 2024, at 1 PM, in the Felton City Cemetery, Felton, MN.
