Karen M. Delorme

Karen Delorme, 70, Moorhead, MN, died Sunday, February 27, 2022, surrounded by her family.
Karen Marie Kujanson was born May 22, 1951, in Thief River Falls, MN, to Arne and Agnes (Stratton) Kujanson. She was raised in Thorhult, MN, graduating from Goodridge High School in 1969. After high school, she attended Northland Community College in Thief River Falls. While in college, she worked for AT&T as a switchboard operator.

On March 13, 1971, Karen was united in marriage to Russell Delorme. They resided in Thief River Falls and welcomed two sons, Bryan in 1972 and Corey in 1975. Karen started an at home daycare business, which allowed her to stay home with her boys. She operated her business for over 10 years before becoming store manager of the McDonalds in Thief River Falls. In 1989, Karen and Russell moved to Moorhead, MN. For over 25 years, Karen worked for Dayton’s department store in the mall and was part of the transition to what is now Macy’s, retiring as office manager in 2015. With Russell still employed, Karen started working for Walgreens in Moorhead and continued until Russell’s retirement in 2018.

Karen enjoyed watching her kids and later her grandchildren participate in activities. She rarely missed an event and was proud of each one of their accomplishments. Karen was a great listener, providing wonderful advice to family and friends over the years. She was an extremely good cook, especially her freshly baked treats, and always made everyone feel at home in her house. She enjoyed reading, playing card games, watching the Vikings and Gophers along with anything Spuds. Karen instilled in her boys to trust often, forgive quickly, be kind to one another and love their family wholeheartedly.
She will be remembered by her family as a wonderful mother, devoted wife, and loving grandmother.

Karen is survived by her husband of 51 years, Russell Delorme of Moorhead; two sons, Bryan (Nicole Forde) Delorme of St. Louis Park, MN, and Corey (Tami Knutson) Delorme of Moorhead; four grandchildren, Parker, Lucy, Cameron, and Audrey; siblings, Joyce Lambeth of Moorhead, Arn (Shawna) Kujanson of Forman, ND, Gary (Connie) Kujanson of Spirit Lake, IA, and Sandi Hughes of Minneapolis, MN; several nieces and nephews; and brother-in-law, George Wikert of Greenbush, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Carol Wikert.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, March 4, 2022, at 11am in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Moorhead. Visitation will be one hour prior at the church.
