Kathleen McEvers, age 87, Moorhead, MN, passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2013, in the home of her daughter in McDonough, GA, surrounded by loving family.
Kathleen Helen Ferris, daughter of William and Florence (Singer) Ferris, was born July 14, 1926, in Fargo, ND. She graduated in 1944 from Moorhead State Campus School, Moorhead. Kathleen enjoyed spending time with friends and family, traveling, and loved to bake, especially bread making. She was a lifelong member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church in Sabin, MN.
Kathleen married James McEvers in 1947. In 1950, they moved to the Tom McCabe farm near Baker, MN, where they farmed and raised their five children. James passed away in 1984. Years later, she married Roland Schultz. Roland passed away in 1993. Kathleen lived her entire life in Clay County.
Kathleen was active in St. Cecilia's Catholic Church. She was a member of Christian Mothers and loved her church and the many friends she had there.
She was a lifelong member of St. Ansgar Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 153 in Barnesville, MN. Kathleen took great pride and joy in being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Most of all, she loved the Lord and thanked Him every day for the love and blessings He gave her.
Kathleen is survived by one son, James (Lisa) of West Fargo, ND; four daughters, Susan (Mike) Thompson, of McDonough, Mary (Steve) Ladwig, of Republic, MO, Jane McEvers, of Eagan, MN, and Donna (Jim) Komestakes, of Stockbridge, GA; stepchildren, Ken (Doreen) Schultz, of Mason City, IA, Mary (Paul) Rykken, of Black River Falls, WI, Tom Schultz, of Bismarck, ND, and Susan Buhr of Moorhead; 19 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Roland (Goldie) Ferris, of Moorhead, and Robert Ferris, of LaMirada, CA.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, James McEvers and Roland Schultz; and infant son, John.
A prayer service will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2013, at 7:00 PM at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church in Sabin.
Memorial service will be held on Friday, August 9, 2013 at 2:00 PM, St. Cecilia's.
Burial will be at the Elmwood Cemetery in Sabin.
