Kay Watson, 84, of Moorhead, MN, died on Sunday March 11, 2018, in her daughter's home in Bennett, CO, under the care of hospice. She passed peacefully surrounded by her loved ones.
Kay was born on January 24, 1934, the daughter of Russ and Ruth Zieske. She was raised in Sleepy Eye, MN, and later moved to St. Cloud, MN.
Kay met her true love, John Watson, when she was 14 and he was 16. They married when Kay was 16. Three children were born from this marriage; Jeffrey, Jody and Tacy. John died March 9, 2009, at the age of 77.
Kay loved being a mother. She was always caring, kind, and supportive. When her kids were all in school, Kay worked for Lutheran Social Services. She retired when she was 62.
Kay loved her cabin on Leech Lake and spent many years sailing her boat with John. She loved to knit baby clothes for her grandchildren, sweaters, and afghans. She also liked needlepoint, playing bridge, and going out to lunch with her friends.
Kay bought her first horse when she was 60. She loved grooming and riding Bubba, then Chance.
Her other babies were her dogs. She had yorkies most of her life, and then later an affenpinscher, and a stitzu. Monkey and Diva now live with her daughters.
She is survived by her three children, Jeffrey Watson, Jody (Bill) Reitz, and Tacy (Daniel) Loera; her two grandchildren, Leah Ross and Rachel Heitzig; and four great-grandchildren, Aliestra Ross, Jonathan Erskine, Elijah Kaza, and Lili Kaza.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents, her brother and sister, and her husband.
A Celebration of Kay's life will be Tuesday, June 12, 2018, at 2:00 PM in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead, MN.
