After a short illness, Keith James Nilson, 69, Fargo, ND, died on September 3, 2016, in his home surrounded by his family.
Keith was born April 15, 1947, in New Berlin, WI, to Bill and Marge Nilson. Shortly after graduating from Central Brookfield High School, Keith enlisted in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War, as a Vietnamese translator. Keith was quickly promoted to sergeant, and received several medals and awards including the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, and Vietnam Service Medal.
After Keith was honorably discharged he returned to Wisconsin to finish his education, achieving his Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee, his Professional Engineering License, and an MBA from Northwestern Kellogg.
Keith married Karen L. McMaster, January 5, 1980. The family moved to Fargo in 2001. Keith became the president of Crary Manufacturing, and continued to enjoy working there until the time of his death.
Keith's energetic smile and infectious laugh encouraged others to do well and live life to its fullest. He was loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
Keith is survived by his wife of thirty-six years, Karen; sons, Vaughan (Karen Marie) Kayla, Madison Nilson, Stephan (Dana) Nilson, Kevin (Megan) Byron, Aaron Nilson, Matthew (Riya) Nilson, and Chris (Ashley) Chloe, Hailey, Liam, Sterling Nilson; sisters, Jan (Karl) Schuldt and Carol (John) Lyerly; and many nieces, nephews and extended family. Keith was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all.
