Kenneth LeRoy Emmanuel Andersen was born November 13, 1919, in Minneapolis, MN, to Victor and Lydia (Carlson) Andersen. The family moved to Moorhead, MN, where Ken graduated from high school. He also attended Concordia College, Moorhead, for a brief period.

In 1941, Ken enlisted in the 188 F.A. Battery E., later transferring to the Army Air Force pilot training. Ken flew two tours of combat duty as a B-17 pilot with a total of forty-four combat missions.

In 1945, Ken joined Dacotah Paper Company as a territory salesman. In 1946, Ken was united in marriage to Hazel Tall and they made their home in Grand Forks, ND. In 1958 they moved to Moorhead.

During his working years, Ken was employed with Dacotah Paper and managed paint stores for Minn. Paint in Bismarck, ND, Madison, WI, and Moorhead. Ken then became a partner in Moorhead Linoleum and Tile. He eventually retired and worked part-time for Moorhead Coop. Credit Union for two years.

Hazel died in May of 2000 and Ken continued to make his home in Moorhead. He was a member of the Moorhead Central Lions, the VFW, American Legion, and the Eagles. He enjoyed working in his yard and garden. He was also an active member of Bethesda Luthe
Ken died Wednesday, July 23, 2008, in MeritCare Palliative Care Unit, Fargo, ND, at the age of 88.

He is survived by a son, David (Char) Andersen, Moorhead; a daughter, Jane (Mark) Dohn, Barnesville, MN; a sister, Betty (Gerald) Cook, Detroit Lakes, MN; seven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Moorhead.


The Visitation will be on Friday from 5 - 7 PM, Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead, with a Prayer Service at 7 PM. The Funeral Service is on Saturday, July 26, 2008, at 11 AM in Bethesda Lutheran Church, Moorhead, with Burial in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery,
