Kenneth C. Elstad

Kenneth Clifford Elstad, age 91, Moorhead, MN, passed away peacefully March 21, 2018, in Eventide Fargo (ND).

He was born on March 10,1927, in Moorhead, and was the only child of Clifford and Rose Elstad. After graduating from high school, Kenny joined the Army and served in WWII. Shortly after his discharge, he met the love of his life Lyall Bailey and they were married on August 28,1948, in Moorhead, where they raised their seven children and retired. Kenneth and Lyall celebrated 57 wonderful years of marriage.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his wife, Lyall and grandson, Kurt Krogen. He is survived by two daughters, Karen (John) Wilson, Fargo, and Nancy (Gary) Johnson, Dayton, OH; five sons, Michael Elstad, Fergus Falls, MN, Thomas (Nancy) Elstad, West Fargo, ND, Robert (Karen) Elstad, Ramsey, MN, Keith Elstad, St. Louis Park, MN, and Daniel (Terri) Elstad, Moorhead; twelve grandchildren, (Karen's son) Kris Krogen, (Nancy's children) Heather Johnson and Adam Johnson, (Michael's son) Zachary Elstad, (Tom's children) Sarah Fjeld, Michael Elstad, and Bryan Elstad, (Bob's children) Matthew Elstad and Kelli Elstad, (Daniel's children) Allison Elstad and Dillon Elstad; and seven great-grandchildren.

Kenneth drove truck for Dan Dugan Trucking Company until his retirement in 1982. Kenny, Lyall and their children made many memories enjoying road trips together. Kenneth was a voracious reader, enjoyed gardening and collecting coins. Kenneth was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Moorhead. You never saw a speck of dirt inside, outside or under the hood of Kenny's cars. He kept his cars running perfectly and clean as a whistle. Kenneth loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and he will be greatly missed by all.

A funeral mass for Ken will be Friday, March 23, 2018 at 11AM in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Moorhead, with a visitation one hour prior. A luncheon will be served in the church after the service.
