Kenneth Kern

Kenneth K. Kern, 73, of Moorhead, MN, died Monday, November 16, 2015, surrounded by his family, after a lengthy illness, in Sanford Health, Fargo.

Kenneth Keith Kern was born December 23, 1941, the son of Kenneth and Rosetta (Krosch) Kern, on the family farm near Hewitt, MN. He was raised in Hewitt and graduated from Bertha-Hewitt High School in 1959. Ken enjoyed working on the family farm along with his parents, brother, Doug, and sister, Yvonne.

On February 23, 1963, he was united in marriage to Kathryn "Kay" Turner in St. John Cantius Catholic Church in St. Cloud, MN. Ken proudly served his country for ten years in the Army National Guard. Ken's job then transferred them to Moorhead. Following that, there were a few moves before they settled in Moorhead, where they continued to live. For about thirty years, Ken worked as an over the road truck driver until his health forced his retirement.

Ken was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards with his friends, and most of all, spending time with his family.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kay; children, Kevin (AnnaMarie) Kern, Rob Kern, Karen (Wesley) Enkers, Phil (Sue) Kern, Keith "Greaser" Kern, and Mike (Sherry) Kern; nineteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Doug (Linda) Kern; and sister, Yvonne Marweg.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his mother-in-law and father-in-law; and son, Rich.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed in Ken's name to Sanford Children's Hospital, Fargo.

A Visitation for Kenneth will be Thursday from 4 PM until 6 PM with a 6 PM Prayer Service in St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Moorhead.

His Funeral Mass will be Friday, November 20, 2015, at 10 AM in St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Moorhead.

Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead at a later date.
