Korinne Smith, 82, Grand Forks, ND, died Saturday in Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, surrounded by her family.

Korinne Leatrice Korsmo, the daughter of George and Evelyn (Bilden) Korsmo, was born in Northwood, ND, on October 9, 1928. She grew up and received her education in Northwood, and was married there on July 9, 1955, to David R. Smith.

Following their marriage, David and Korinne lived and served churches in Dazey, ND, Osnabrock, ND, Emerado, ND, and Karlstad, MN. In 1974, they made their home in East Grand Forks, ND, and later moved to Grand Forks, where they had lived since.

Korinne is survived by her husband, David, Grand Forks; daughters, Lynette (Pierre) Cariveau, Monticello, MN, and Karen (Maynard) Herting, Grand Forks; son, Daniel (Diane) Smith, Grand Forks; brothers, Philip Korsmo, Northwood, and Paul (Florence) Korsmo, Fargo, ND; six grandchildren, Jonathan Cariveau, Andrew and Kjersten Herting, and Jennifer (James) May, Christine (Joel) Wylot, and Daniel Smith; seven great-grandchildren, Logan, Breanna, Brock, Jamie, Ryland, Cullen and Landen; sisters-in-law, Edith Korsmo, Irene Edwards, Sara (John) Graves, Grace (Alan) Bekkerus, Norma (Tom) Anderson; brothers-in-law, Harvey (Marta) Smith, Martin (Sheila) Smith; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Reuben Korsmo; and sisters-in-law, Borghild Korsmo and Flora McFarland.

Korinne was a lady of deep faith in Jesus. She was kind-hearted and served others willingly. She loved her family and will be missed by her family and friends.

Visitation: Tuesday, 4 PM to 7 PM, with a service at 7 PM, in Valley Christian Center, 3920 Cherry Street, Grand Forks, ND.

Funeral service: Wednesday, April 20, 2011, at 3 PM in Ebenezer Lutheran Church, Northwood, ND.
