Larry Maring, 81, Cerritos, CA, passed away December 2, 2022, at Sunrise Assisted Living, La Palma, CA, with Hospice Care.

Larry Maring was born December 5, 1940, in Georgetown, MN, the son of Floyd and Frances (Swenson) Maring.  He lived and worked on the family farm through high school where he participated in football, basketball, track, band and baseball. 

Larry graduated from North Dakota State University with a BS in Mechanical Engineering, and accepted a position out of college working on the Apollo Program in Southern California.  He had a love of learning and continued his education with a BS degree in Business Management from California State University Long Beach and obtained his Real Estate and Broker license.  After 25 years of working in aerospace, he spent the next 20 years in cell phone communication, contracting site and tower acquisitions. 

Into retirement, Larry enjoyed traveling, seeing 40+ states to see his family and friends and the great USA.  His friend group included a 50 year friendship with the Embers Group; a group of Midwest friends, who planted roots in California.  Larry enjoyed planning trips to see his four grandchildren in Minnesota and Colorado.  He also loved hosting them in California to share the beaches, parks, games, and favorite restaurants. 

He will be missed for his vast knowledge on business, cars, travel, history, farming, and all-round ability to fix about anything! 

Larry married Yvonne Mannie October 2, 1970, and they recently celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary. 

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Julie (Ryan) Anderson of Waconia, MN, and Michelle (Josh) Alsup of Monument, CO; four grandchildren, Ryne and Bryce Anderson, and Paige and Anna Alsup; three siblings, Russ Maring, Joan Maring Nelson, and Dave (Mary) Maring; brothers and sisters in-law, Marcia (Rick) Lehman, Jeri O’Brien, and Jeanne (Boyd) Becker; nephews, nieces, and many cousins.   

Burial was held at Kirkebo Cemetery, rural Perley, MN.
