Laverne Maier was born on March 11, 1927 to Matthew and Norah (Williams) Maier in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Laverne resided in and attended school at the Grafton ND Development Center, where she met her husband to be, Axel Larson.
In August of 1952, Laverne married Axel Larson at Moorhead, MN. Laverne worked in numerous restaurants in and around the Fargo/Moorhead area. Laverne and Axel were dedicated bell ringers for the Salvation Army, and lived in the Fargo/Moorhead area most of their lives. Axel died on December.11, 2004. Laverne resided at the Moorhead Healthcare Center in Moorhead, MN for several years, until her death on December 29, 2006 at the age of 79 years.
The family would like to express sincere thanks to: Lutheran Social Services, the Salvation Army, and her "family" which was made up of residents and staff of the Moorhead Healthcare Center for their involvement, care, and love shown to Laverne during her lifetime.
Laverne is survived by her sisters, Esther Carter, Barbara (Paul) Walden, and Donna Hagen, all of Devils Lake, ND; an aunt, Barbara Jenson of Elmau, OR, an uncle Donald Williams of Mentor, MN, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Oliver Slupe; and a sister, Alice Stenberg.
Burial will take place in Grace Lutheran Cemetery, Wyndmere, ND.
