LaVon Kuvaas

LaVon Mae Kuvaas was born June 15, 1937, in Crookston, MN, to Clarence and Nellie (Offerdahl) Miller.  The family moved to Moorhead, MN, when LaVon was a young girl.   She graduated from Moorhead High School in 1955.

LaVon worked as a bookkeeper for numerous businesses in the Fargo-Moorhead area over the years.  She worked for USDA, Peterbilt and the City of Moorhead.  She also worked for Fraser, Ltd., Banner Health and Hornbachers.  

 LaVon enjoyed her time at Hornbachers and continued to have coffee, celebrating birthdays, with her former coworkers.   She loved to knit, and all her family have personal Christmas stockings made by LaVon.  She enjoyed her houseplants, solving puzzles and taking in as many of the grandchildren’s activities as possible.  

LaVon spent some time traveling through several states, locating relatives and reestablishing those relationships.  She even managed to drive a school bus for Richards Transportation Service.

LaVon died Monday, February 19, 2024, at Arbor Park Assisted Living, Moorhead, at eighty-six years of age.

She is survived by her daughter, Janelle (Jay) Richards, Moorhead; son, Joel (Janeen) Maddux, Moorhead; six grandchildren, Jason Richards (Sara Evert), Katie Richards (Jeff Bye), Amanda (Brandon) Scheffler, Dalton Maddux, Alexandra Maddux (Aric Brodie), and Alicia Maddux; four great-grandchildren, Ainslie Richards, Bo Scheffler, Piper Scheffler, and Austyn Scheffler; and a brother, Wayne Miller, Detroit Lake, MN.

Visitation will begin at 10 AM, with a funeral at 11 AM, Monday, February 26, 2024, in Korsmo Funeral and Cremation Service, Moorhead.   Burial will take place, next to her parents, in Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead.
