Video Tribute
During a brief battle with the flu while healing from surgery, LaVonne Frederickson, 79, died at Manor Care Health Services of Fargo, ND, on the morning of Monday, March 6, 2006.

LaVonne was born on October 10, 1926, to Louis E. and Inez L. (Buck) Westling in Malmo, MN, on the northeastern side of Mille Lacs Lake. She was the youngest of three children.

During LaVonne's childhood, the Westling family moved to Isle, MN, on the southeastern side of Mille Lacs Lake. There she met and eventually married Loel Dean Frederickson, the son of the town druggist, on January 2, 1947. Later that year, their first child, Gail, was born. Other children were Mark, born in 1952, and Todd (Yahya), born in 1962.

Loel's job opportunities moved the family from Isle, MN, to Carthage, IL, Davenport, IA, and finally in 1956, to Moorhead, MN. Wherever they moved, LaVonne continued her roles of homemaker, wife and mother. For fifty summers, the family retreated to their cabin on Wabedo Lake, near Longville, MN, for rest, relaxation, and fun.

LaVonne's interests and service centered on family and church. She was a wonderful homemaker, cook, gardener, seamstress, quilter, crafter, and crossword puzzle enthusiast. In addition to volunteering for Campfire Girls, Boy Scouts, and the American Can
LaVonne was preceded in death by her brother, Glenn; her sister, Lorraine; and her parents. Surviving are her husband, Loel; three children, Gail, Mark, and Todd (Yahya); daughter-in-law, Fathia; and twin grandchildren, Ama and Abdu.

A Memorial Service followed by a light lunch will be held at First Congregational United Church of Christ of Moorhead at 11 AM on Friday, March 10, 2006.
