LaVonne "Bonnie" Engelking, 76, of Moorhead, MN, died Thursday, October 4, 2012, in her home.
LaVonne Ann Miller was born July 25, 1936, in Detroit Lakes, MN. She spent her early childhood in Ulen, MN, moving to Moorhead at the age of seven. On August 7, 1951 she was united in marriage to Roy Frank Engelking in Moorhead. They established their home in north Fargo until 1961, when they moved to Moorhead. LaVonne worked at Silverline Boat Company for a few years and during the same time she was a homemaker and a loving mother to her children. Once her children were grown, LaVonne worked at the Holiday Inn and then Motel 75 in housekeeping until 1989 when she retired.
LaVonne enjoyed time with her family and friends especially during the holidays. She enjoyed baking and cooking and always kept a clean house. LaVonne enjoyed sports and liked watching golf and the Minnesota Vikings. Over the years she also enjoyed all of her dogs, each one being given the name "8-Ball".
LaVonne is survived by her husband of 61 years, Roy; children, Jolene Engelking of Horace, ND, Debbie Barnett of West Fargo, ND, Mike (Julie) Engelking of Moorhead and Steven (Laurie) Engelking of Crookston, MN; grandchildren, Elizabeth Kuhn, Jason Sauvageau, Monique Sauvageau, Todd Sauvageau, David Luptak, Amy Cossett, Justin Bortle, Jeremy Bortle, Shawn Barnett. Darin Barnett, Amanda Engelking, Taylor Engelking, Austin Engelking and Alexis Engelking; many great-granchildren; her siblings, Lowell (Jeanette) Miller of Ashland, WI, Lyle (Sonja) Miller of Gig Harbor, WA; Elaine Shauger of Ironwood, MI, Donna Kohler of Audubon, MN, Bill Miller, Frank Miller and Jodi Wheeler all of Detroit Lakes, MN; sister-in-law: Martha Miller of Pelican Rapids, MN; Aunt, Gladys (Vernon) Kirkeby of Moorhead; Uncle, Morris Jacobson of Moorhead; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Daniel Roy Engelking; daughter, Terri Ann Sauvageau, grandson, Charles Roy Luptak and brother, Arnold Miller.
Funeral Service: Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at 2:00 pm in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead, MN.
Visitation: Will be held one hour prior to services.
