Lawrence E. Gigler, age 88, died Monday, Nov. 15, 2010, in Golden Living Center - Otter Tail Lake, Battle Lake, MN.
Lawrence Elmer Gigler, the son of Frank and Martha (Duenow) Gigler, was born in Ada, MN, on December 23, 1921. He grew up and received his education in the Ada area, where he worked on farms.
On February 11, 1945, Lawrence married E. Doris Boreen, in Twin Valley, MN. Following their marriage, they lived in the Ada area, where they farmed. In 1963, the family moved to Aneta, ND, where Lawrence worked as a meat cutter, for Aneta Meats. He retired in 1986. Lawrence worked as a painter and roofer in retirement, and enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and dancing with Doris.
In 2004, Doris and Lawrence moved to Fargo, ND. In 2008, Lawrence became a resident of Golden Living Center - Otter Tail Lake.
Lawrence is survived by his wife, E. Doris, Fargo; three daughters, Judith Ann (Richard) King, Sheridan, MT, Denise L. (Dennis) Whitman, Moorhead, MN, and Patrice Kristine (Dan) Scott, Westminster, CO; three grandchildren, Dennis Whitman II, Gretchen (Anthony) Enger, and Jarrod Kiefat; two great-granddaughters, Isabella and Alexandra Enger; a sister, Arline Gigler, Fargo; brothers, Robert Gigler, Coon Rapids, MN, Alvin (Fran) Gigler, Fertile, MN, Leslie (Lois) Gigler, Ada, and Dennis (Jan) Gigler, Ada; and a brother-in-law, Clifford Boreen, Portland, OR. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Rosebell Gigler.
Visitation: One hour prior to the funeral service, at the church.
Funeral: Saturday, November 20, 2010, at 10:30 AM in Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, Fargo.
Burial: Saturday, at 2 PM, Ada City Cemetery, Ada, MN.
