Leanne K. Carter

Leanne Kae Holmen was born in Fargo, ND, on December 16, 1950, to Eileen and Otto Holmen and grew up on the family farm near Horace, ND. Leanne was baptized and confirmed at Horace Lutheran Church. She attended school at Horace and graduated from West Fargo (ND) High School in 1969.

Leanne married Glenn Carter on November 15, 1975, at Horace Lutheran Church. They farmed near Georgetown, MN, where Leanne was active in her church and community. They enjoyed traveling, especially when their children were growing up.

Leanne served as a Sunday school teacher at Kirkebo Lutheran Church in Perley, MN, for many years and was also active in the quilting group, Ladies Aid/WELCA, and church fundraisers. She was employed as the church custodian for eight years.

Leanne delivered Meals-On-Wheels in Perley and was part of the Georgetown Gardenaires. She frequently visited friends or family members that were in nursing homes. Family was very important to Leanne; she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She especially adored her two granddaughters. Upon retirement from farming, Glenn and Leanne spent six winters in Mesa, AZ.

Leanne is survived by her husband, Glenn, of Georgetown; daughter, Cari (Arthur) Weidner, West Fargo; son, Cory (Kristina), Moorhead, MN; grandchildren, Audrey and Claire Weidner; mother-in-law, Leone Carter, Moorhead; foster brothers, David (Tammie) Strebig, West Fargo, and Steven Strebig, Beresford, SD.

She is preceded in death by her parents and an infant son.

Leanne died Tuesday, May 27, 2014, at Banner Gateway Hospital, Gilbert, AZ, at sixty-three years of age.

Visitation for Leanne will be Monday, June 2, 2014, from 5 - 7 PM, with a prayer service at 6:30 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.

Her funeral will be Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at 2 PM, in Kirkebo Lutheran Church, Perley.

Burial will follow in Kirkebo Lutheran Cemetery, rural Perley.
