Lee K. Frigen, age 60, died Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at Pioneer House in Fargo, ND, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley following a nine-month battle with cancer.
Lee was born January 26, 1958, at Fort Belvoir, in Alexandria, VA, the son of Kenneth and Betty (Ekre) Frigen. In 1967, they moved to Garland, TX, where Lee graduated as Valedictorian of North Garland High in 1976. He attended Dallas County Community College and the University of Texas-Dallas before transferring to MSU-Moorhead, where he received his bachelor's degree in business.
Lee was married to Karen Stole Baker from 1990 to 2007. This marriage brought her six-year-old son, Adam, into Lee's life forever. The two had a shared love of baseball and Lee enjoyed following Adam's baseball career from tee-ball up through Fargo South, Fargo Post 2, and then to UMD.
Lee spent his entire professional career in banking with the last 21 years at Bremer Bank where he held positions as the Fargo Region CFO and most recently the Division CFO. Lee retired at the end of March and was honored with a retirement celebration where Bremer recognized his years of service and dedication to the bank and fellow employees with the creation of the Lee K. Frigen Employee Development Fund.
The Rape and Abuse Crisis Center will recognize Lee for his Board service and ongoing support with the naming of a Group Therapy Room in his honor.
Lee is survived by his mother, Betty Frigen, Jamestown, ND; father, Kenneth (Vicky) Frigen, Jamestown; stepson, Adam Baker (Taylor), Seattle, WA; uncle and aunt, Donald and Marilyn Ekre; cousins, Blaine, Brad, Brent, Blair, and Sarah Ekre and their families; special friend, Betty Pfaff, and her granddaughter, Makayla Grace, who Lee said filled a place in his heart that he never knew was empty and brought him great joy.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Gottlieb and Ida Frigen; and Henry and Edna Ekre.
Friends and family will remember Lee as a man of integrity and honesty who was humble in his charity and service to others.
A memorial service will be held Monday, April 16, 2018, at 2 PM, at Olivet Lutheran Church in Fargo. Friends and family are invited to gather from 1 - 2 PM.
The family would like to thank the staff at Pioneer House and Hospice of the Red River Valley for their support and wonderful care provided.
