Lee Wallace Haggerty was born May 8, 1929, in Grand Forks, ND, to Francis and Helen (Helm) Haggerty. The family lived in East Grand Forks, MN, and eventually moved to Moorhead, MN, where Lee graduated from high school.
Lee entered the US Army in March of 1951 and served in the Korean War. For his service, Lee received a Purple Heart. He was discharged in March of 1953, and he returned to Moorhead.
He worked for Russ Buick and Honda, as the parts manager, and retired in 1994. Lee was married to Lois Roof for over fifty-five years. Together, they enjoyed camping and square dancing. He also was a fan of the Minnesota Vikings and the Minnesota Twins.
Lee died Saturday, August 7, 2010, at his home in Moorhead, at eighty-one years of age.
Lee is survived by his wife, Lois, Moorhead; two daughters, Joan (Bill) Steen, Horace, ND, and Patricia (Steven) Schultz, Fargo, ND; two sons, Michael Haggerty, West Fargo, ND, and Steven Haggerty, Moorhead; three grandchildren, Jeremy Schultz, Jennifer (Jim) Rud, and Christopher (Erin) Grieger; five great-grandchildren, Brady, Carter, Alex, Damien and Hailey; and a sister, Monna Jean (Don) Rau, Crookston, MN.
Visitation for Lee will be Wednesday, August 11, 2010, from 5 - 7 PM, with a prayer service at 6:30 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel, Moorhead.
His funeral will be Thursday, August 12, 2010, at 2 PM, in Korsmo Funeral Chapel.
Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead.
